Burlington Capital Properties is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team at West Briar Commons in Sioux Falls, SD.

We're looking for a dependable, customer-focused professional with strong troubleshooting skills and experience in apartment or property maintenance.
Schedule
- Full-Time
- Monday-Friday
- 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
- Participation in an on-call rotation for after-hours, weekend, and emergency maintenance is required.
Essential Responsibilities
- Complete maintenance service requests in a timely, professional, and courteous manner.
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on apartment homes, common areas, buildings, and grounds.
- Complete apartment make-ready turns according to company standards to prepare units for new residents.
- Troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems, heat pumps, plumbing, electrical systems, appliances, drywall, flooring, painting, carpentry, and other building components.
- Perform routine inspections of property amenities, including laundry facilities, fitness center, restrooms, and common areas, ensuring cleanliness and proper operation.
- Maintain the exterior appearance of the community, including grounds and curb appeal.
- Communicate regularly with the Community Manager regarding service requests, project status, inventory needs, and vacant unit readiness.
- Monitor maintenance expenses and use company resources responsibly.
- Coordinate with and inspect work completed by outside contractors.
- Submit warranty claims and assist with warranty-related repairs as applicable.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies and applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations.
- Participate in resident events and community activities as requested.
- Respond to emergency maintenance calls during scheduled on-call rotations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of apartment maintenance, property maintenance, or related maintenance experience required.
- HVAC certification required.
- Heat pump experience required.
- CPO certification preferred.
- Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, appliance repair, carpentry, drywall, painting, and general building maintenance.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle record.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple work orders.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to interact professionally with residents, coworkers, vendors, and contractors.
- Ability to safely lift, carry, push, and pull maintenance equipment and supplies as needed.
